Therapeutic exercise is a physical therapy intervention encompassing a broad range of activities designed to restore or improve musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and/or neurologic function.
Depending on the patient or client’s level of ability, age, endurance, the severity of injury and or stage of recovery, the physical therapist will use their specialized knowledge to determine what is appropriate. Exercise may be passive, active or resisted in nature while respecting any precautions indicated with a particular diagnosis.
Physical therapists use therapeutic exercise as one component of patient care to improve functional ability and general well-being in those who are experiencing limitations or disability due to a disease, disorder, trauma, or surgery.

Stephen F. has been my physical therapist for approximately five years.
He is a very caring and professional therapist. He has always been well read in the latest and newest techniques in therapy and massage necessary to alleviate pain and also to return full motion to any part of my body that is not functioning to its full capacity. I would highly recommend Stephen. You could not be in better hands.

Following his stroke, in-home physical therapy has allowed my husband and I to enjoy our ‘together time’ more, because of the progress he has made in both strength and stamina. Continued in-home sessions have enabled him to increase his activities, outings and general confidence.

I have had the pleasure of working with Lucy K. in my home for six months now. She is always on-time, courteous, encouraging and creative. She knows when to push me, and when to ease off a little bit. My movement and energy have improved tremendously since we started working together. I always look forward to her twice-weekly visits.

My father has worked with two different therapists at Active In-Home Therapy. He has multiple medical issues since he had a stroke three years ago. The therapists’ knowledge and compassion never cease to amaze me. Even on his bad days, my father seems ready to get to work when his therapist arrives. Both therapists have been helpful educating both my Father’s caregiver and other family members.
